Course Description

This 12-hour course engages you in the fun of advanced boat handling, optimum sail trim, and proficient helmsmanship. It also introduces you to spinnakers, the largest and most powerful sail on a yacht.

First you will learn sailing techniques that augment your racing skills, including effective boat handling techniques and helmsmanship. You will learn how to maintain optimum sail shape for various wind and sea conditions. More, you will learn the importance of boat balancing and rig adjustments to racing success.

Then we take you through all aspects of spinnaker work from packing and rigging to setting, jibing, dousing and maintaining control. While the spinnaker is reputed to the hardest sail to master, we will de-mystify this dynamic sail in a relaxed controlled atmosphere. Successful graduates will be an asset to any racing crew.
