We chose the J/30 as our Cruiser/Racer because of its proven performance worldwide. This fast, modern and versatile boat is ideally suited to the needs of our members. It is easily handled by both novice and experienced sailors alike. The J/30 can take up to ten people on rentals and up to six people on charters and lessons. Racers will appreciate that the J/30 will outrun nearly every other boat in its size range. A J/30 sails the speed of 35 to 40-footers and will be ahead of the average 30-foot cruiser by the length of a football field after a mile of sailing.

The J/30 has great speed in light air and wonderful pointing ability. Their fractional rig allows effective sail adjustment and instant reduction when weather threatens. J/30s are a breeze to sail with a crew of two or even single-handed.

If you are looking to develop cruising skills you will find that the J/30 is a perfect choice. Our boats will give you an opportunity to learn the diverse systems of a modern auxiliary cruiser. They boast a comfortable cockpit for six adults and deck space for several more.

The main cabin offers a galley with icebox and stove (on some boats). Directly adjacent is the navigation area with full chart table and instruments. Between the main cabin and the forward cabin is an enclosed head with basin.

As night falls, the crew will snuggle into six full-length bunks, two quarter berths and two pilot berths in the main cabin. The spacious forward cabin offers a private double berth with an overhead hatch for ventilation and a view of the stars.

J/30s are consistent winners worldwide. Each of our boats is competitively equipped with full race gear, including spinnaker. When qualified, you and your crew will be hitting the starting lines and challenging the area's finest boats in no time.

The J/30 is safe. It will weather storms with assurance. Each is equipped with current United States Coast Guard safety equipment including lifejackets, first aid and flares. Each comes with a VHF radio, anchoring tackle and fire extinguishers. The decks are enclosed in lifelines and pulpits.
