Prerequisite: Basic Sailing 101 or equivalent

Course Description
This course is intended for those sailors who want to polish their existing, but unpracticed sailing skills. It is also the ideal way for dinghy sailors to acquire keelboat credentials. While not a substitute for Basic Sailing 101, the 8-hour Refresher Course delivers the same results to those with workable sailing skills.

Perhaps the most profound benefit will be to one’s personal confidence. Successful Graduates will know that their proficiency is affirmed to US SAILING’s exacting standards.

Course Curriculum:

• Review of sailing terms, rigging, trim
• Motor operation and docking
• Boat handling under sail
• Man overboard and safety lessons
• Jibing, tacking, reefing
• Boating rules overview

Course Details:

• Available each week, April-September
• Text: US SAILING Basic Keelboat
• Vessel: J22 keelboat
• Class size: no more than 4 students
• Successful graduates become qualified to rent J22’s from Chicago Sailing

Sessions start each week and are offered on weekends as two 4-hour classes.

Sat & Sun: 8:30am - 12:30pm
Sat & Sun: 1:00pm - 5:00pm.
